Move inland as soon as you spawn — coastal spawns are the most contested points on the map, and an unarmed player standing on a beach is free loot. Head for houses and small civilian buildings, take the first firearm, food and water you find, and pick up a melee weapon even if you already have a gun. Melee is silent, needs no ammo and lets you stealth-kill Infected for better drops. Avoid noise, avoid roads, and do not cross open ground toward a fight you cannot win.

There is no single best gun, because ammunition supply decides more fights than raw damage. NATO rifles and machine guns sit at the top of most community tier lists for their damage and attachment support, but they need rarer ammunition, so a NATO gun you cannot feed ranks below a surplus rifle with ammo cans in your backpack. Rank weapons by class, by the role you need (long-range, close-quarters, cheap early gear) and by how easily you can keep them loaded.

Loot in AR2 is tied to building type rather than a single hotspot. Hospitals and clinics pay out medical supplies, police stations pay out armour and sidearms, gun stores pay out civilian firearms and ammunition, and military checkpoints, barracks and airfields pay out NATO gear — at the cost of being the most contested places on the map. The efficient route starts in civilian buildings, escalates to military sites once you are geared, and checks random events such as helicopter crash sites along the way.

Rare firearms come from the military loot class: checkpoints, barracks, airfields and weapon cases, all of which are heavily contested. Because ammo is not universal, a rare gun without its calibre is dead weight — loot the ammunition before you commit to carrying it. Helicopter crash sites and unlocked vaults also drop gear that does not appear in normal spawns, so a route that passes a crash site is usually worth the detour.

Certain Infected drop rare cosmetics, and the way you kill them matters. A stealth melee attack gives a better chance of a good drop than shooting the same target, which is why an early machete stays useful all game. Named Infected such as the Legendary Soldier and the NATO Operator are the ones worth hunting, but they appear in limited locations and are far tougher than civilian Infected — bring armour, medical items and an escape route.

Vehicles in Apocalypse Rising 2 spawn as wrecks. A car or boat will not move until you find the missing vehicle parts — wheels, engine components and similar items that spawn as separate loot — and add fuel from a gas can. Once it runs, learn the manual transmission before you need it: stalling mid-chase is how most vehicle escapes end. Boats are the only reliable way across open water, so they are usually worth more than a faster car.

Cosmetics are the long-term progression system, and most of the thousand-plus items are unlocked by exploring rather than by fighting. Secret locations, hidden rooms and unmarked buildings award clothing for finding them, random events such as helicopter crash sites hand out items that appear nowhere else, and rare variants drop from specific Infected. Seasonal events add limited cosmetics that disappear when the event ends, so permanent unlocks are the safer long-term goal.
